Bansko can be found nestled high amongst the Pirin mountains, the second highest mountain range in Bulgaria with a typical alpine profile and great slopes ideal for skiing in the winter.
Forty peaks rise at a height of more than 2600m, the highest being Vihren which rises to 2915m.
Snow falls are abundant, providing a constant winter snow cover up to 2 m thick and the well maintained slopes offer runs and tracks for all levels of skiier, from novice to expert.
The skiing season along the Pirin slopes is long, beginning in mid-December and ending in May.
